PCP enhances its bindery with stitcher install

Telford-based commercial magazine and catalogue printer Precision Colour Printing (PCP) has bolstered its in-house finishing capabilities by investing over £1.2 million in a Primera MC.

Supplied by Muller Martini and successfully installed last month it compliments a suite of stitching machines including a Muller Prima/S, a Muller Prima Plus and a Muller Martini Primera E140.

Mick Hamilton, Finishing Manager comments,

“We know Muller Martini’s equipment very well so went with a supplier that we trusted. It’s 14,000 an hour stitching line will give us greater productivity and efficiency whilst its 8 feeders will give us more flexibility.

“It can stitch any mix of work including 2 up A5 and tabloid and will give us the additional advantage of reducing the amount of work sent out in busy periods therefore giving us greater overall control.

“The Muller Martini team spent two weeks at PCP training our staff and handed over the machine ready to start production within the agreed time. Full 24 hour production commenced on Monday 3rd September and we are very pleased with the machines production to date.”

This latest investment is part of a £10 million capital investment project that has taken place over the last 6 years. The commitment to continually investing in print technology and machinery secures our position within the UK market as a future minded company. Over the next three years we will accelerate our Continual Improvement Program to continually improve efficiencies and modernise our working practices.
