PCP wins the title!

Telford’s award winning printing company Precision Colour Printing (PCP) Ltd has just scored a fantastic victory by winning the contract to print the retro football magazine, Backpass.

Published by journalist Mike Berry and his partner Sandra Nicholson from Herefordshire, Backpass satisfies the enormous appetite for football as it was in the “glory days” of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. So males (and females) of a certain age can now purchase a magazine that is professionally written, reports on the players and re-lives the great moments from those eras when the activities of footballers, in the main, occupied the newspaper sport’ pages and not the headlines!

“The reason why we didn’t initially think of PCP for this project was because we thought that they were too big for us”, said Sandra, “but because of their genuine interest in our business, their attention to detail and the fact that they are so knowledgeable and offer great customer service – it was a very good decision on our part.”

Mike added, “I am really impressed with the quality of the printing and the customer service – l should have switched to PCP months ago!”

The current issue features memories of characters such as Bobby Brown, Gary Matthews, Terry Paine, Gary Owen and legendary Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson, a tribute to Sir Bobby Robson, articles including Graham Taylor’s Scunthorpe Dream Team and on the front cover a picture of Billy McNeill leads the story of Celtic’s historic 1967 European Cup win.

The magazine, which is currently produced quarterly, has plans to change to a bi-monthly offering and with a “retro special” planned for the 2010 World Cup – it’s definitely not “all over” yet!

Backpass is available in WH Smiths and many other leading and independent newsagents. For more information visit www.backpassmagazine.co.uk
